More about Hung
Nancy Shoop-Wu and Hung Wu are both violinists in the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Honolulu Symphony). (Yes, we are husband and wife!) Originally from Connecticut, Nancy plays in the 1st violin section. Hung, who grew up in Taiwan is the Principal of the 2nd Violin Section. We are located in Honolulu on the corner of University and Kapiolani Avenues on the bus line.
Since we have different backgrounds and teaching methods, go to Nancy Shoop-Wu or Hung Wu to find out more information about our individual teaching studios.
CK Violins, and Music Center of Hawaii have instruments you can rent or buy. We usually recommend starting out renting a violin or viola if a student has never played before. At most local music stores, the money you put into a rental will go towards the purchase of an instrument should you decide to buy one later on. Check with the music store to find out their current policy. If you already have an instrument but it needs some repairs or maintenance, Hung Wu does violin repair and bow rehair for the professional players in the Hawaii Symphony. He does repairs on student instruments and bows as well.
